Lawn & Landscape Tech Certification Course
131 Perkins Avenue, Dunbar, WV
The next Lawn and Landscape Technician Training Course & Certification will be held May 15 – 19 in Dunbar.
After years of searching for a professional trainer to work with new or existing employees on the basics of lawn and landscape tasks and skills, WVNLA found an excellent match. Scott Byars and John David Johnson with the West Virginia National Guard developed this 40-hour certification course initially to be offered to Jobs & Hope participants who would be job-ready for green industry careers after completing the program. Now, the program will also be available to West Virginia lawn and landscape companies to send existing or new employees for training.
The five-day course will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the KISRA Center, 131 Perkins Avenue in Dunbar, just west of Charleston. Participants will learn about: lawn care, landscaping basics, equipment safety and operation (both instruction and hands-on learning), insect and disease management, trees and shrubs, soil basics, plant nutrition, landscaping tools, environmental issues and landscape professionalism.
Cost for the five-day course is $390.00 and includes lunch. Participants will receive certification. Space is limited and registrants will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
